what to order (and what to not) when at Minetta Tavern

I love this restaurant. Such an old school, cool, cozy vibe. Perfect for a winter night, too. And, of course, the food is amazing.

Order:

  • Housemade Ricotta Cavetelli - I’m going to be honest, this was my favorite thing we ordered (and everything was delicious). The pasta was so fresh.

  • Black Label Burger - I’d rank this #3 on the best burgers in NYC list (after 4 Charles and Corner Bistro).

  • Filet Mignon Sauce Au Poivre

  • Potato Gratin

  • Roasted Bone Marrow

  • Souffle - we got the Grand Manier orange and the chocolate. They are massive and decadent and delicious. I personally preferred the chocolate, but both were crowd pleasers.

Don’t order

  • Heirloom tomato salad - very small and nothing special.

  • Bone-in New York Strip - not to say this was bad, but the filet was better (though I know they are very different). The strip had a rub on it that was a bit overpowering.
